ASTM A656 Grade 80 is a high strength low-alloy (HSLA), hot-rolled steel. Compared to carbon steel, A656 Grade 80 has improved formability, weldability, notch toughness, and corrosion resistance. It is often chosen for structural applications where strength-to-weight ratios along with the ability to be welded and formed easily are necessary. These desirable properties are obtained through selected chemical composition and controlled mill processing.
