PM M4 Tool Steel
PM M4 is a Molybdenum-Tungsten tool steel with high Carbon and Vanadium for excellent wear resistance. This high-performing tool steel is made via the Powder Metallurgy process, which creates a highly refined microstructure noted for its uniform distribution of carbides. The fine grain size and superior cleanliness result in a high-speed flexible tool steel that provides a unique combination of high wear-resistance with high impact toughness and bend strength. It is ideally suited for heavy-duty cold-work applications. PM M4 offers improved cutting tool life compared to conventionally-wrought M1, M2, M7, and other lower-alloyed high-speed steels. It excels in cold work tooling applications, outlasting high-carbon, high-chromium die steels such as D2 and D3.
Alro stocks in Rounds ½”-12” diameter and Plate cut to size ½- 3” thick. Material is provided decarb-free and oversized to finish at the nominal dimensions.
